Our third show in January is another first for us – MRketNY, the fall / winter menswear show at the Javits Center, New York, January 18th – 20th. It’s a new show for us because in the past we’ve always exhibited at the Collective, which for years has been the established New York menswear show. Now it seems the momentum has shifted in favour of MRketNY .
Our booth number is 434. It will be hard to miss as it will be spread across 2 aisles at the centre of the hall. Dents will be sharing the booth with three other great European brands, Corgi Hosiery of Wales, Breuer menswear of France, and Codis Maya cufflinks of England. All four of us share the same US sales agent, Jim McKenry of the Bird Dog Group, who you can meet at the show too.
If you can’t make the show and you have plans to visit New York in the future, you can arrange to see Jim at our New York showroom at 130 West 57th Street, Suite 5E, to view any (or all!) of the four collections.
If you have any questions or want to make an appointment, please send us an email addressed to John Roberts. Advance registration for Buyer and Press is available here.
Accessorie Circuit NYC, January 5, 6 and 7 at the Show Piers, New York City.
Pitti Uomo, January 12, 13, 14 and 15 in Florence, Italy.
For further details, see earlier blogs below.
It’s back to Europe for the second on our list of trade shows this season: Pitti Uomo, the premier international menswear exhibition, on 12th to 15th January 2010 in Florence, Italy. Dents will be exhibiting its fine collection of leather gloves and small leather goods. There are several reasons why you may want to seriously consider a visit to our stand this year: first and most important, our wonderful Creative Director, Deborah, will be at our stand for the whole of the show, so this is a unique opportunity to tell her what you think about the Collection, and what you’d like to see. Second, we’ll be sharing the stand with our sister company, Corgi Hosiery, and Corgi’s Managing Director, Chris, will be at the stand (so you can tell him what you think, too). Third, of course, there’s the opportunity to enjoy the wonderful cultural experience that is Florence.
As usual this show is only open to fashion buyers, and registration packs are available here.
Again, if you have any questions or want to make an appointment, send us an email marked for the attention of Deborah Moore, or if you prefer just stop by – our stand number is 20, in Padiglione Centrale, Piano Inferiore, Salone M.
Take a look at our Online Shop where you’ll find 3 styles of colourful cotton socks, made in the UK (Wales actually) from 100% long staple Egyptian cotton. They’re lovingly made specially for Dents by our sister company, Corgi Hosiery, at their factory in the beautiful Amman valley in Wales.
You may be wondering what makes our socks different from the common or garden sock you usually see. A few things - firstly, they’re a 100% natural fibre so the fit is a little looser and more comfortable than a regular sock; secondly they have hand linked toes, the result of an incredibly skilled and intricate operation where the ends of yarn of the body of each sock are linked by hand to the ends of yarn in the toe pieces, to ensure a comfortable fit that a machine made sock will never match; and thirdly the cuffs of the socks are also finished by hand. I can personally vouch for all this, as I’ve seen them being made, AND they’re HUGE fun to wear!

From a style perspective, sales of brightly coloured socks have been shooting up recently. Maybe it’s because during tough times these socks add a touch of whimsy and allow men to express their personality. They’re the perfect foil to the classic navy blazer or dark denim jeans. Just because the economic outlook’s cloudy doesn’t mean your socks need to be!
